Three singers performing the Baroque programme in a historic church

Baroque

Baroque music was created to entertain the courts and aristocracy — and it was never meant to be dull. Today, intimate Baroque performances where you can truly relax and lose yourself in the atmosphere are surprisingly hard to find. Here, the music is accompanied by vivid costumes, staged scenes and theatrical storytelling.

Our carefully selected repertoire includes works by Handel, Monteverdi, Bach, Vivaldi, Gluck, Carissimi and other composers of the period.

Two singers presenting an Ave Maria concert in a Prague church

Ave Maria

Ave Maria concerts are especially suited to Christmas and other special days. And what could be better than a winter walk through Prague, a cup of hot mulled wine, and an evening inside a historic church? Expect a peaceful, meditative atmosphere accompanied by beautiful familiar melodies and lesser-known settings of Ave Maria.
String musicians performing Stabat Mater

Stabat Mater

Pergolesi's Stabat Mater is one of the most beautiful and emotionally powerful sacred works of its time, filled with grief, tenderness and profound human feeling. Every serious lover of classical music should experience the complete work at least once — from beginning to end, in the natural acoustics of a historic church. We give you the opportunity to do exactly that.

Presented seasonally in spring and autumn, with an instrumental ensemble.

Singers performing Casanova's Dream for an audience

Casanova’s Dream

In Venice, where beauty, pleasure and intrigue were part of everyday life, Giacomo Casanova became a legend. His greatest passion was female beauty — and he loved women far too much to choose only one. Casanova's Dream brings his world to life through a refined selection of famous and lesser-known arias and duets from Italian and French opera — with beautiful voices, seductive characters and a little bit of theatrical mischief.

The programme features works by Verdi, Puccini, Bizet, Gounod, Massenet, Saint-Saëns, Delibes, Offenbach and other composers of the Italian and French opera tradition.

The Canta! ensemble

About us

Canta!

Beneath the Vaults is created by Canta!, an ensemble of singers and early-music players based in Prague.

Our idea is simple: classical music deserves more than a printed programme and a row of chairs. Every concert is staged — costumes, movement, candlelight and a repertoire chosen for the room it is sung in.

The result is an hour that feels closer to a baroque painting than to a conventional concert evening.
